Music on-hold on telephone lines
When a company uses on-hold music on its telephone lines – for example, when placing a call on hold, transferring a call, or in a waiting queue – an EAÜ licence is required. The licence grants the right to use musical works from the EAÜ repertoire as on-hold music and covers both the public performance and the recording of works to the extent necessary.
Licence fee: €8/month per telephone line
Please note! The licence fees listed here do not include the VAT added by EAÜ in accordance with the Value Added Tax Act, which is calculated on EAÜ’s management fee and shown as a separate line item on the invoice issued by EAÜ.
The above rates apply from 01.01.2026.
On-Hold Music Service Providers
If a company provides on-hold music services to other businesses – i.e. compiles a music catalogue and makes it available to clients for use in telephone queues – a separate EAÜ licence is required. This licence covers the recording of works to the extent necessary for providing the service, as well as the public performance of those works.
Please note! If the service provider has concluded an agreement with EAÜ, their clients are not required to enter into a separate EAÜ licence agreement for telephone on-hold music.
