Joining the EAÜ for authors and heirs of a musical work

What do I need to know about joining the EAÜ as an author of a musical work?

  • The EAÜ represents authors (composers, lyricists, translators, arrangers) and their heirs from all over the world.
  • The EAÜ does not have a joining or annual fee, but every year the members of the society agree on the commission rates at the General Meeting.
  • Authors shall register all their works with the EAÜ as soon as possible.
  • The author can view an overview of royalties received and payments made in the EAÜ’s authors’ interface- Kasutajaliides.

How to join the EAÜ as an author of a musical work and what happens next?

  1. You have published at least one musical work or text related to it.
  2. Fill in the application form, read the terms and conditions of the membership agreement, and sign the documents digitally. i
  3. The EAÜ will review the submitted documents and send you a signed membership agreement and general information regarding the membership by e-mail.
  4. Register all your works using the EAÜ interface. i
  5. You can view an overview of the use of your works and royalties in the EAÜ interface. i

What do I need to know about becoming a member or client of the EAÜ as the heir of an author?

  • The EAÜ represents the heirs of authors (composers, lyricists, translators, arrangers) from all over the world.
  • The EAÜ does not have a joining or annual fee, but every year the members of the society agree on the commission rates at the General Meeting.
  • For feedback on the use of the works and the royalties collected, please contact the EAÜ by e-mail at eau@eau.org.
  • If one author has several heirs, they must agree on who of them will become a member of EAÜ. A corresponding written agreement must be submitted to EAÜ. The other co-heir(s) can become a client of EAÜ.
  • An heir who is a client of EAÜ has the same rights and obligations as an heir who is a member of EAÜ, except that, unlike an heir with membership status, cannot personally participate and vote in the general meeting of EAÜ and be elected to the board of the EAÜ or a member of the audit committee of the EAÜ.

How to become a member or client of the EAÜ as an heir?

  • If an author dies and his/her rights are passed on to you, forward the notarised right of succession certificate copy to the EAÜ.
  • If one author has several heirs, they must agree on who of them will become a member of EAÜ. A corresponding written agreement must be submitted to EAÜ.
  • The other co-heir(s) can become a client of EAÜ.
  • Fill in and digitally sign the application form and the membership/client contract as the heir and send them to the EAÜ.
  • The EAÜ will review the documents and send you a signed membership/client agreement and general information regarding membership or client status by e-mail.
